About Me

Ali Mills, LCSW (She/Her)

Hi! I’m Ali and I live in the greater Philadelphia area. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a deep passion for integrative and holistic mental health. I love collaborating with clients in how to help them live more fully, as their authentic selves. I know that you are the expert in your own healing and I am here to help guide you through this process. I believe in working with the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.

My passion for helping others began in my teen years. In high school, a coach and teacher of mine became my spiritual mentor and personal mental health advocate. She taught me that it was okay to feel my big feelings and held space for my experiences. I no longer felt afraid to share my struggles, and this was the first step in my own healing journey. I knew that I wanted to be like her when I grew up.

Studying both psychology and social work has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Social work taught me how to be an advocate—how to think critically and actively fight against systems of oppression. I am proud to be a social worker and its values are at the core of who I am. My work is trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and culturally affirming. I strongly believe you are not a diagnosis, you are a human with human experiences.

My education has also given me such great insight into my own trauma and healing the parts of me I always wanted to turn away from. My mental health training has taught me how to turn inward, into the pain. Doing the work myself has not only made me a better therapist, but has also made me a better human. None of us are immune from pain, and I feel so honored to witness this humanness and experience with you.

Brené Brown

Let’s walk inside your story

Therapy with me looks like…

We hear the word “well-being” a lot when talking about mental health treatment and the wellness world, but what does that look like? Therapist, Sheryl Paul says, “Well-being means that you’re able to access a well of being inside you.” Imagine that for a minute. YOU have a well of knowledge inside of you that we can tap into. Once the noise of our inner and outer lives quiets down, we will find that place where your soul can take a deep breath. This is the work.

Mental health must be holistic. Mental health includes our physical and spiritual health. I have studied nutritional and integrative mental health treatment and believe in the power of incorporating different holistic techniques to help you heal. This might include looking into your diet (intuitive eating), stress levels, movement practices, breath-work, and connection to a spiritual practice. No two people are the same and therapy will look different for every one. I will never make an assumption about your lived experiences. I will listen to you and your experiences navigating this complex and challenging world.

I want you to know that healing is not linear. You will have times where you won’t want to show up; times where you’re uncomfortable; times where you’re overjoyed; times where we laugh and then cry together. I encourage you to invest in this process and see this as a journey into the soul. There is no greater gift that you can give yourself.
